Creating Cohesive & Interactive Junk Journals
Junk Journal January 2024 - Making Interactive Pages Come Alive!
I was invited to participate in Junk Journal January 2024, using the prompt “interactive” to inspire a journal spread. I wanted to challenge myself to create a spread that not only stood on its own but also interacted seamlessly with the pages around it. I explore creating an interactive spread in my handmade journal, using a mix of found papers and vintage materials to bring the pages to life. I believe that a journal should be more than just a collection of individual spreads; it should be a cohesive and interconnected adventure.
If you stick with a color scheme that is really comfortable for you it’s easier to not second guess yourself. You can achieve so much dimension and layers going on when you're just using neutrals and black and white. Even though there's a lot going on in the end, I just love the way that all of the different elements blend and compliment each other on the page.
Thanks to Megjournals and Get Messy Art for hosting Junk Journal January and for inviting me to be a guest artist!
