100 Days with ABC

I didn’t have any intentions of doing the 100 day project this year. That is, until earlier this week. You see, I had in my head how I’ve done them in the past. Making it into too much of a production and putting too much pressure on myself. Each piece, especially the further we got, felt like a chore. A sort of obligation that was something to check off my list, rather than daily enjoyment.

I’ve completed the 100 day project a couple of times. And I love how all the finished pieces look. Because let’s face it, any time you put 100 of something together - it’s going to look impressive. (Check out my previous projects here — 2022, 2023, 2024)

But here’s the thing. I’m not looking for impressive. What I want is more consistent creativity. This is something that I’ve been consciously choosing — especially over the past several months. Balance is my word of the year, and what that has been looking like for me is taking the time for my personal art practice. Navigating my “all-or-nothing” way of thinking, and choosing small, consistent moments of creativity rather than only counting it as creative time when I’m down in my studio have a “full art sesh”.

In the past, I was my only source of drive and momentum. But what I know to be true — now more than ever coming fresh off the BB Bash — is I don’t have to do it alone. Community is everything.

My friends — Andrea Chebeleu and Crystal Gurney — and I have decided to go on this 100 day journey together. And we’d like to invite you to join us!

Every 10 days, we plan to go live on Instagram to check in. With the goal of keeping keep each other accountable and to talk about any mindset blocks that might be getting in our way. We’ll share what we’ve been making and how we approach the day-to-day. Each of us has our own goals of what we hope to get out of this project - but the big overlapping goal is to help us show up more consistently.

There are no official sign-ups. If you follow along with us you can use the hashtag #100dayswithABC (ABC = Andrea, BB, + Crystal) 😊

What’s my project going to be?

I’m still finalizing what my project is going to be. What I keep reminding myself is, “it’s only as complex as you make it.”

I’ve been loving working in single signature journals lately, so I think I’m going to continue with that direction. My thought is to make 10 simple signatures. During each 10 days I will work in one of those signatures/journals. Not necessarily a page or spread per day, but just working inside them like the style that I’ve already been enjoying. Some days that may be I do several pages and other days I only add a few scribble marks.

Take a look at these journals that I made and worked in during January for a visual of what I’m thinking. At the end I will find a way to bind them all together or some other “container” than can group them together as one project.

What do you think? Are you going to create along with us for the 100 day project this year?
