Abstract Faceless Crowd - "People" Prompt - 5 Minute Challenge
5 Minute Art Challenge - Day 9 - Prompt: People
hosted by: The Ugly Art Club
Day 9 of the 5-minute challenge was a “people” prompt and it took me on a fun artistic journey. This prompt really got me thinking about how we see faces in the crowd from a distance, and I wanted to translate that into my art. I immediately grabbed a Donna Downey stencil that resembles faces in a crowd and created a spread that felt both abstract and narratively cohesive to me.

I love to change up the order in which I do things because I think it really helps you to get nice variety in your work while still having that consistent look. There's nothing wrong with simple, and I love a simple spread, but I think there's a difference between it being simple and it falling flat.
Experimenting with different elements and techniques, like stitching on paper, enriched the whole process. It was all about adding those little details - the washes, the white gesso, and the small marks - so the spread didn't feel flat but had just the right amount of depth and intrigue.
