Choosing balance
December 5, 2025
A direct line from my art table to your inbox—where creativity, connection, and a little chaos collide.
For the past little while, a theme has been showing up again and again. Not forced, but as a gentle reminder that kindly reminds me that I get to choose how I live my life. BALANCE. Looking back over my journal pages — this theme first started appearing back in October.
Balance is
→ state of equilibrium
→ mental steadiness
→ proportionate
→ harmony
→ attunement
→ collating
→ adjustment
→ stability
In a social media post this week, I wrote about some of the ways I’ve been choosing balance lately. As someone who fully owns the fact that I’m an “all or nothing” type of person, balance doesn’t always come easy.
For me, it’s usually an active choice that I have to make to put something down and choose to spend my time and energy elsewhere. I’m the intense type that’ll push so hard that it eventually leads to burnout and total exhaustion. (I’ve been there… I don’t care to go back.)
I believe in practicing what I teach, and with BB Bash prep in full swing, this is the perfect time to “put my money where my mouth is.”
→ I’m trying to delegate more.
→ I’m focusing more on process over final product
→ I’m aware of my (unrealistic and not sustainable) perfectionistic standards, and I’m leaning into the concept of “done is better than perfect.”
→ I’m creating art just for me. Projects that don’t have the end goal of being taught (piecing a quilt, scribbles on a journal page, random stitches on fabric).
→ I’m prioritizing more of the why and how over any polished finish product.
I’m actually quite proud of the balance I’ve been creating lately. I feel so much more aligned. But I’m also remembering that balance is made up of many deliberate choices — it doesn’t just happen.
Take some time to reflect and write down a few ways you can create more balance in your life right now.
→ Remember, small steps lead to lasting change.

In this video, I’m putting my house-paint samples into super usable squeeze bottles and making a batch of "acrylic" ink while I’m at it. If you’re curious about working with house paint, building translucent layers, or creating custom acrylic inks, this walkthrough shows the full process in real time.
Thank you so much for being here and for all of your support! Much love π«ΆπΌ
