Stitch with me!
March 27, 2026
A direct line from my art table to your inbox—where creativity, connection, and a little chaos collide.
Last week, we took a trip to Texas with a couple of friends which led me to a very important question — what art supplies am I going to bring with me?
One thing you should know about me is that I have terrible travel anxiety. This looks different for everyone. Mine shows up before the trip. The week before I go somewhere my insides are will work themselves into knots. It’s the lead up that gets me. It’s the same sort of feelings that I used to get before going on shift for work, when I had a “normal” job, that resulted in full blown panic attacks. I’m talking hyperventilating, uncontrollable shaking, screaming, feeling like death was imminent — the full works.

Thankfully now, I’m in a much better place than I was then. But the lead up to travel and the unknown can still bring up those uncomfortably familiar feelings. So when it comes to packing, it always feels like a big chore — especially when it comes to making decisions on what art project/supplies I should bring with me.
I ended up taking the fewest amount of supplies that I have taken with me on a trip in a long time. Partly because I was overwhelmed with making decisions and couldn’t deal with it any more. And in other part because I didn’t want my bag to be overflowing and cumbersome (like usual). This was good AND bad.
The good → Less stuff meant it took up less room in my bag. I didn’t want to deal with so much “stuff.”
The bad → While on my trip, I didn’t have exactly what I wanted.
And back to the good → Not having all the things that I wish I had, forced me to stay flexible and get creative with what I did bring.
I’m always impressed with the imagination and creativity that comes from having limited supplies.
Instead of working a lot inside my journal for the 100 day project, which had been my plan, I decided to lean into one of my all time favorites — stitching 😍 (because yes, I am that person who pulls out a hand project at the winery 😂)
All I had with me for stitching, was small fabric scraps plus black and white thread. Which ended up being more than enough, plus the meditative motions of stitching did wonders to calm any residual anxiety that my body was holding on to.

When thinking about the playdate tomorrow, working a bit slower was calling to me. So I decided I’m going to stick with this theme!
I’ll be working on an intuitive stitching project (on a patchwork fabric base) - I plan to start a new one, so everyone can see what the process looks like from the beginning. And I’ll also show you other examples 🥰
Buy the replay from the March 28th playdate
When: March 28, 2026 from 12p - 2p CDT
Where: Zoom (plus lifetime access to replay)
You are welcome to create along with me, using this topic as inspiration, or work on any other project you might have!
If you would like, you can gather a few fabric scraps. I’ve been using neutral colors and a mix of fabric types (canvas, tea towel, linen, bedsheet, etc. — whatever you have on hand is great).
Plus a needle and thread. I’ve been using black and white embroidery floss for this current project.
