Your creativity cycles are normal 🔄
April 3, 2026
A direct line from my art table to your inbox—where creativity, connection, and a little chaos collide.
All week I’ve been sneaking in moments for my latest stitching project that I started during last weekend’s circular intuitive stitching playdate. Right now it seems like I can’t get enough of it!
Creativity Cycles
Before a couple of weeks ago, it has been quite awhile since I worked on a stitching project. What always fascinates me most to observe is how much my creative interests go in cycles.
My excitement and passion can be really intense for a while and then, boom, I’m ready for something else. Sometimes it’s a slow fade, and other times it hits me out of nowhere that I’m ready to move on.
This would make me feel like something was wrong with me in the past. To the point where I felt like a failure. I would equate my ability to stick with a project to my self worth.
My head would be full of thoughts like — why can’t I stick with anything or why do I feel so scattered or why can’t I just finish a project before starting something new.
I can honestly say that I don’t feel this way anymore, at least not usually. With my conscious effort to learn more about myself and how I tick, I’ve learned to reframe this kind of thinking. Because all it was doing was filling me with shame and self-doubt.
Instead of asking why I can’t stick with it, I can be thankful that my mind is full of ideas and possibilities. I can be proud of my ability to start the projects that interest me.
And most of all, I’ve learned that this cycle of interests will always come back around. Very rarely does that passion stop, never to return again. I can be confident in myself and in my past patterns that with patience and time, it will all come back around — as it has so many times in the past.
Do you have creativity cycles as well — how does this show up for you?

With this renewed passion for stitching, I’m so excited for the class that I just put on the calendar! BB Stitched Fabric Bowls - Live Edition!
Join me for a live class on April 11th!

When I started making these last year, I think I made about 15 bowls, within about 2 months 😲 It’s been on my list for classes to create since then. I have been loving getting together live for the play dates, so I figured — why not teach this class live! It’ll get this project in your hand much sooner than if I released it as a prerecorded class, which wouldn’t be possible until the later part of this year. (Side note: I’m going to be in full preparation mode for the BB Art Journals Masterclass soon!)
What: BB Stitched Fabric Bowls Class - Live Edition
When: Saturday, April 11th from 12p-3p CDT
Where: Live on Zoom, plus classroom access
Cost: $19 (price will increase after the live session)
Access: Lifetime access to the live class replay

Seeds of Connection
I want to tell you about something that is starting on April 14th. My good friend Crystal Gurney, you may know her from the 100 day project check ins that we've been doing every 10 days on Instagram, is starting another round of her program, Seeds of Connection. I haven't known Crystal for that long, but immediately she was one of those people that I wanted to spend more time in her presence. You know the ones, where you just want to soak up every word they say.
I'm so excited to join in this group that she is facilitating. I'm not earning anything by saying this, and I paid to join. That's how much I believe in what she has to offer. So I wanted to share this opportunity here as well, if it seems like something you might benefit from.
A quick rundown about Seeds of Connection:
- An 8 week guided community group to explore creativity, intuition, self growth & healing.
- Deeper connection to our intuition, our natural world, our bodies, our inner strengths & wisdom, and each other
- Tools useful for noticing our inner world, "re-parenting" ourselves, or for developing self-compassion - from Hakomi, Internal Family Systems (IFS, or "parts work"), somatics practices and more
- A come-as-you-are vibe, no pressure to perform, or do anything that doesn't feel right to you
- Mindfulness tools & practices
- Inspiration and techniques that may spark the creative process for writers, artists, and makers of all sorts. (but you absolutely DO NOT need to be an artist of any kind to join us!)
