Textures & Thread Scraps
Play Along Journal Series Week 7 Part 2
To introduce more textures and mark-making in my journal pages, I decided to use my fingerprint as a tool, making delightful impressions with the radiant nickel azo yellow. Scribbling loosely with my pencil, I let the lead guide itself. It's a beautiful exercise in giving up control and embracing the organic nature of the creative process. Adding splashes of one of my favorite colors, that vibrant green-gold hue, using my catalyst tool, helped to build a foundation of captivating layers in the background.
Realistic drawing is not something that I feel comfortable in at all, but I am trying to push myself towards that a little more, especially with botanical drawings because I love using them in my work and I love seeing it in other people’s styles. So it may not be super realistic, but none of my style is.
