Ink & Fabric Dying Techniques - "Dip Dye" Prompt - 5 Minute Challenge
5 Minute Art Challenge - Day 11 - Prompt: Dip Dye
hosted by: The Ugly Art Club
For the next Ugly Art Club's 5-minute challenge prompt of "dip dye" I wanted to challenge myself to create within a time limit while still pushing my creative boundaries. During the challenge, I ended up using drywall tape, Quink ink, and other materials around me to create some really unique effects. I also made sure to capture all the leftover ink and pigment to use on other projects. This included dyeing some fabric, so I could make the most of what's left over and find creative ways to utilize every bit of material. It's really fun to experiment! When you're working “in the moment”, you get ideas and you're more inspired to just go with it. Rather than thinking through all of the consequences and maybe having the risk of overthinking what you're doing.

I often have a color scheme picked out ahead of time. I gather some materials around me on my desk, and that way when I'm creating and I'm making decisions to move quicker, I can just take a look at what's around me and be inspired by whatever is going on, and that helps you to make those quicker decisions.
