The goal: more art, more often

A direct line from my art table to your inbox—where creativity, connection, and a little chaos collide.

Last week, I gave myself a challenge and invited you all to join. The challenge was to do something hands-on creative early in the day to prioritize creativity.

I wish I could tell you that I had some grand revelation about creativity and how to improve your art practice. But, two small things did stand out to me:

1. Confirmation that it is difficult to prioritize creative time.

This was affirming for me to realize again that it can be really difficult to prioritize art making when it feels like our to do list is never ending.

The biggest help for me, was continuing to work on my mindset. Reminding myself that creativity is just as important (if not more-so) than the tasks on my list. It's what fuels everything else. It's what we can come back to when life piles it on. It's not frivolous. It's not a reward for when the "real work" is done. It's the whole point.

2. Realization that sharing the small, real life creative moments is enjoyable.

It's easy for me to think of posting on social media as another thing that I need to check off my list. But this week, I found myself sharing with all of you just for the joy of it.

I didn't spend time writing creative captions filled with context. I just shared the art making. Filming and sharing the small moments felt like peeling back the curtain and letting you all in on what my creative process actually looks like.

So, my big (not so revolutionary) takeaway is to make more art, share more art, and do it more often.

Usually I don't talk about things until I'm near the end of building them. For example, I usually don't talk about new classes until I've already done the filming and have started the editing process. But, something that I would like to get better at is taking you all along for the journey! So here goes...

I'm excited to say that I'm in the very early stages of creating something new for all of you...

I don't have a lot of details yet, but the topic of this new exploratory class is going to be all about COLOR play and experimentation 🤩

UPCOMING: September 28 - October 2, 2026

The Making Zen online retreat is back, and I'm so honored to be a presenting artist again. I'm very excited for the project that I'll be teaching, Stitched Franken Fabrics. It's a super yummy, texture heavy project that I think you are going to love. I turned my finish piece into a zipper pouch!
