Using Pre-Made Embellishments in Your Journal

Can you believe it? We have reached the 20th week of our Play Along Journal Series! Time flies when you're having fun, right?

In this week's video, I wanted to showcase two different versions of the same spread in my handmade art journal - the mustard version and the teal version. The beauty of creating in an art journal is that there are no rules. You can follow your instincts and let your creativity flow in whichever direction it takes you. For me, that meant starting with some stamping and incorporating repetitive marks to add texture to the background.

Throughout the video, you'll see how I play with composition, experiment with different techniques, and even grunge things up a bit with black gesso. There's always room for exploration and making each element unique. And let's not forget about the finishing touches - vintage tape, masking tape, and outlining with a whiteout pen. It's these little details that bring the spread to life and make it truly stand out.

I hope that by sharing my creative process, you find inspiration to embrace your own artistic journey. Whether you prefer batch creating or working in the moment, find what works best for you and don't be afraid to try new techniques and materials. Remember, there are no right or wrong ways to create art - it's all about expressing yourself and letting your imagination soar.
