Playing with Whimsy in Your Art Journal
Play Along Journal Series Week 24
From craft paper grids to swatch-inspired clusters, this Play Along Journal series has it all. It's a whimsical adventure of taking inspiration from existing elements on the page and letting the imagination run wild.
One of my favorite parts of this series is the comparison between two journals that have the same layout to begin with. It's incredible to see how the inspiration strikes differently in each journal. From collage elements and acrylic paint to washi tape and white correction pens, every step is carefully thought out to create texture, depth, and eye-catching marks. A lot of times, I actually like my pieces to kind of hang over the sides or I kind of test the boundaries of what an art journal page actually is.
