Breaking the rules, from fabric to paint

Play Along Journal Series Week 5 Part 1

For me, mixed media art journaling is the perfect outlet to combine all the things I love. Growing up, I had a deep fascination with everything related to art. From painting and drawing to collecting new office supplies, creativity always found a way to seep into my life. That's why this style of art feels like home to me. It allows me to bring together my passion for stitching, painting, drawing, and experimenting with different materials and textures.

One of the things I love most about mixed media art journaling is the freedom to break the rules. While technical training often dictates the "proper" way to use certain supplies, I believe that true creativity blossoms when we challenge those conventions. Adding water to unexpected mediums or using materials in unconventional ways opens up a world of possibilities. This mindset not only allows us to explore our creativity but also unlocks hidden details and surprises in our art that can only be discovered upon closer inspection.
