We don't all learn the same way

July 24, 2026

Picture this: no makeup, comfy clothes, nestled into my corner spot on my office couch, papers everywhere...

This week has been all about the workbook.

Getting it to those final stages — editing, refining, rewriting — and then last night, I finally sent it to the printers. 😊

I get asked sometimes why I go through the effort of creating a workbook to go along with the BB Art Journals Masterclass. It's a fair question — not many courses come with something like this.

But here's the thing: not everyone learns the same way.

Some people need to watch someone do a thing before they try it themselves. Some want to do it alongside the teaching, in real time. And some — like me — want to absorb information through more than one channel.

If I'm listening to something, I want the captions on too. When I really want to learn from a nonfiction book, I'll play the audiobook and read along at the same time. Something about that combination just works for my brain.

So when I built the BB Art Journals Masterclass, I knew I didn't want it to be a "figure it out on your own" kind of experience. That's why we have 14 weeks of live sessions — I'm there with you, helping you implement, troubleshoot, and actually do the thing.

And the workbook is the piece that ties it all together. It's there to complement the videos, not replace them — something you can reference later, when you're at your art table and don't want to go dig back through a recording. There's plenty of room in it for your own notes, too.

This year's workbook is 282 pages, and it's more comprehensive than ever — it dives deep into my signature framework, section by section.

Every student gets the digital version with enrollment. But I'll admit, the physical copy is the one I'm most excited about. It's beautifully coil-bound, made to sit on your art table and get flipped through again and again.

Because this isn't a "buy it and forget it" kind of resource. It's meant to be with you for the full 14 weeks — and honestly, for a lifetime. This truly is an immersive experience.

If you want a taste of what this experience will be like, join us for the free BB Journals Jumpstart event, live from August 6–9. About 1 hour each day. By the end, you'll have a better sense of what this is all about — and a completed mini journal, too!

This class is about so much more than creating an art journal. It's about building a creative, process-first practice that puts play, experimentation, and curiosity first. It's about building creative confidence, learning to trust your artistic instincts, and actually enjoying the process — all while building up a repertoire of techniques and intuitive methods that guarantee finished, cohesive projects and results that are undeniably, uniquely your own.

TL;DR; this post contained the following:
