Reclaim & Repurpose: Thinking Outside The Page
Play Along Journal Series Week 29
From coffee shop gift card holders to paint swatch tags, we're turning mundane objects into vibrant works of art. I explore bold graphic marks, collage elements, and the power of black and white colors. This allows that botanical to really be a focal point because I'm setting it on that darker background, and it just allows it to have a little space to shine and be the star. Rather than a light color on the light background, I set it on something darker to make it stand out a little bit better.
Another aspect I discussed was the importance of letting elements run off the edges of the page. Sometimes, even in a small journal, we tend to try and fit everything neatly within the allotted space. Allowing your shapes and designs to spill over the edges can create a sense of freedom and organic flow in your artwork.
