Collage & Stitching in Art Journaling
Play Along Journal Series Week 18 Part 1 & 2
In this series, I aim to inspire you to let loose and feel free in your own art journaling. I'm working in two handmade art journals and taking similar spreads in two unique directions. It's all about exploring different techniques, embracing our artistic intuition, and finding joy in the creative process.
I start off with some collage work, layering various elements to create visual interest. Trusting my instincts, the simplicity of the spread resonated with me, reminding me that each page is a piece of art, but also a part of a larger whole.
Additionally, I dabbled in hand stitching, creating a delightful cluster on the left-hand side of my teal journal. Combining fabric, paper, and mixed media supplies, I let my imagination run wild. The organic look created by allowing things to shift around added a touch of uniqueness to the cluster. Hand stitching has become one of my favorite ways to bring elements together, adding texture and a personal touch to my art journal pages.
If you're struggling to find a balance between busy and simplicity in your journal, remember that negative spaces give your eyes a place to rest and appreciate the overall composition. That being said, feel free to experiment with different textures and materials, pushing the boundaries of your creativity.
