Exploring Imperfection, Texture & Contrast

Play Along Journal Series Week 19 Part 1 & 2

It brings me immense joy to see your creativity flourish alongside mine. If you haven't done so already, don't forget to tag me in your posts on Instagram. I would LOVE to see your work!

As I worked on the first spread, I found myself captivated by the pre-existing elements on the page. Sometimes, a piece can hold its own without any additional embellishments. Whether it's a store-bought item or your own artwork, it's perfectly fine to let a page remain as it is, serving as a jumping off point for future creations. Trust your instincts and embrace simplicity when it calls to you.

In the second spread, I embraced the thrill of starting with a blank page, allowing endless possibilities to unfold. As I layered colors and textures, I couldn't help but contemplate the contrast between the vintage ledger paper and the transparency of the paint. It's these unexpected combinations that truly bring a piece to life. Experimenting with different shapes and techniques can lead to exciting discoveries in the creative process. Remember, it's perfectly fine if things don't turn out exactly as planned. It's through taking risks and pushing boundaries that we grow as artists and gain confidence in our work.

I hope you found inspiration and encouragement in this Play Along Journal Series! If you haven’t already, get on the waitlist for the upcoming BB Art Journals Masterclass - where I teach you how to make your own handmade art journal!
